Access mode (head tracking, eye gaze, switches)
For a child who drives the board with head tracking, an eye-gaze device or a switch rather than a finger. Turn on the pointer features in your device's own Accessibility settings first, then turn this on: the board switches to fewer, larger tiles, highlights whichever tile the pointer is on, and stops the press-and-hold gesture so a dwell cannot open the edit menu by accident. Nothing changes for a child who taps.
Celebration effects
The character's bounce and the emoji that float up after each tap. Turn off if the movement is distracting. Speech is never affected, and your device's Reduce Motion setting turns them off too.

Add your own symbols to any category. Upload a photo or pick an emoji, then choose where it lives on the board.
Folders

iPad / iPhone one-time setup (10 seconds):
- Open iOS Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access.
- Turn Guided Access on.
- Tap Passcode Settings → Set Guided Access Passcode and pick a 6-digit code.
Android:
Settings → Security → App pinning (or Screen pinning) → on. Then from the Recents view, tap the VoiceBloom thumbnail icon → Pin. Hold Back + Recents to leave.
Therapist Access
Profile Access
See exactly who can read each of your child's data. For profiles you own, you can revoke a therapist's access in one click. For profiles linked to you (via a parent's code or an organization invite), you'll see who owns them.
When set, the app boots straight into this child's board every time. Great if each child has their own iPad. Leave on "No pin" if multiple kids share this device and you switch between profiles.
Cloud Sync Status
Sync this child's progress with the cloud, so activity from another device shows up here.
Export & Restore Board
Save this child's whole board as one file: every tile they added, its photo, the folders, the order you set, and the tiles you hid. Keep it as a backup or move it to another device.
The file holds your child's name and their tile photos, so treat it like a photo album. Keep it somewhere private.
Moving to a different AAC app? Export an Open Board Format bundle instead. CoughDrop, CBoard and most board converters can read it.
Restore a board from a file you exported before, from this device or another one. Tiles, photos, folders, the order you set and the tiles you hid all come back. Open Board Format files (.obf, .obz) from other AAC apps can be brought in here too; each of their boards arrives as a folder in Extra.
Only restore a file you trust. The categories the file covers are replaced; everything else stays as it is.
Recently Deleted
Tiles removed from the board (long-press → Delete). Tap "Restore" to bring one back. Items auto-clear after 30 days.
Troubleshooting
Children's profiles missing?
If your kids' profiles aren't showing up after sign-in, this clears the local "remove" filters and re-pulls every child from your account. Use only when profiles you expect to see are missing.
